Kinds of OLIVE OIL

The Oneiro Olive Oil from the Greek island of Zakynthos is offered in two product lines:
Extra Virgin and Organic Extra Virgin.
Both lines represent extra-virgin oils, which means that the oil is made from pure, coldpressed olives. It is the least processed form of olive oil available, retaining its natural antioxidants, vitamins, and nutritional value.
The Organic Extra Virgin product line is on top produced under the strict requirements for organic production in the EU (EU Regulation 2018/848). It is an unrefined olive oil produced without the use of pesticides, synthetic pesticides, synthetic herbicides, and synthetic fertilizers. This makes the olive oil even more healthful and the production more environmentally sustainable.
The Organic Extra Virgin Oneiro Olive Oil is offered in three varieties: Filtered,
Unfiltered, and Flavoured:
• Filtered Organic Extra Virgin oil is free of particulates and fruit water and is
more stable over time.
• Unfiltered Organic Extra Virgin oil contains residual olive fruit particles, fruit
water, and additional organic compounds such as polyphenols. This oil should be
stored in cold and dark places.
• Flavoured Organic Extra Virgin oil offers, on top of all the Organic Extra Virgin

oil benefits, also taste and organic value of additional ingredients, such as lemons.

HEALTH BENEFITS

Why use high-quality olive oil?
When BBC (1.) asked a nutritionist about the health benefits of olive oil, she listed five main benefits:
1. May improve heart health
2. May reduce inflammation
3. May improve mood
4. May improve brain function
5. May protect against chronic disease
Further on, studies show “a link between lower risks of cardiovascular disease, some cancers, and even dementia in people who consume higher amounts of olive oil than thos who use little or none.” And as furtherreported by Harvard Health Publishing (2.) extra virgin olive oil has extra benefits compared to regular olive oil. The mechanical pressing of ripe olives, without high heat or chemical solvents, protects the oil from using valuable phenols that, in higher concentrations, may provide extra antioxidant effects. And it does not end here; true extra virgin olive oil is very high in monounsaturated fats, contains vitamins E, K, oleic acid and oleocanthal nutrients that can fight cancer and Alzheimer’s disease (3.).

USAGE

When creating the Oneiro Olive Oil product lines, we asked people across continental
Europe what they use olive oil for. We were surprised by the answers.

The most frequent use we heard about was for salats and cold cuisine. Yes, even today.

We would like to encourage our customers to expand extra virgin olive oil usage. It has
been used for centuries also for cooking, baking, frying, as an ingredient in cosmetics,
pharmaceuticals, and even in original cocktails (add a drop together with an olive into your next martini).

ABOUT ZAKYNTHOS

What is so special about Zakynthos, or Zante, one of the Greek islands in the Ionian sea?
An island that was once called by Venetians “Fiore di Levante”, the Flower of the East?
The travel experts from Tripadvisor say(1.):

“The waters are bluest blue, the sands are
achingly silky and smooth. Everything looks heavily Photoshopped. But that’s just
Mother Nature, in all her unspoiled glory. Zakynthos is the largest of the Ionian Islands,
and it’s as fruitful as it is beautiful, boasting a bounty of crops like olives and grapes.”
Zakynthos is also home to one of the most iconic and most photographed beaches in the
world – Navagio beach – with an iconic shipwreck, next to electric-blue water(2), and that
is only one of many beaches and sides that Zakynthos island offers.
And, as no surprise – you can see olive trees everywhere.
The Flower of the East, the island of Zante, is the proud home of the Oneiro Olive Oil.
